Luke 5:1-5 KJV
And it came to pass that,
as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God; he stood by the lake of
Gennesaret. And saw two ships standing
by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their
nets. And he entered into one of the
ships, which was Simon’s and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from
the land. And he sat down, and taught
the people out of the ship. Now when he
had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out
into the deep, and let down your nets for draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we
have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I
will let down the net.
My God! My God! I
have heard several sermons on this scripture and they were all taught from the
perspective of what Jesus saw and taught but my blog today is going to speak
from the perspective of us that follow Christ.
When he says go we go, when he says do we do, when he says stop we stop,
when he says give we give, when he says take we take, whatsoever God says we
do it with faith that we are following his will and desire for our lives. I can’t tell you how many times I have acted
on faith only to feel like Jeremiah, ready to stop and give up because the
promise wasn’t there but I couldn’t because it was like fire shut up in my
bones, ready to say God must not be real and I must be crazy BUT GOD! Yes, BUT GOD, he knew those days would come
so the way he called me to him I couldn’t say he didn’t exist he is very, very
real! He called me from Florida to Ohio with
a contrite heart and a broken spirit to show me he was real. The pastor called me out in church that day
and spoke to me what no other man but God knew therefore I know he is real
lovelies.
Now in the scripture if you caught what I caught Simon and
the fisherman had already been out fishing all night long (in my Mary J. Blige
voice), they had caught all they could catch or they caught nothing at all
(because sometimes say nothing but only one is something), they had given up
and came back to shore, stepped off the boats and were washing their nets. They were done with fishing! BUT GOD!
Jesus stepped onto the scene and called Simon to the boat and prayed him
to push back from the land! Jesus prayed someone to do something for him, he petitioned
Simon, and he begged Simon to come on just trust me! Jesus was saying Simon, push back from the
people and take a ride with me Simon. Step
away from the natural and ride with me into the supernatural. You did it your way now let’s try it my
way. See this was Jesus plan unbeknown
to Simon so he did as Jesus had asked.
Now Jesus taught the people from the ship then he asked Simon to launch
out into the deep. Jesus asked Simon
will you allow me take your faith deeper than it currently is, are you willing
to trust me enough to give it one more try?
Simon replied as we all do when we have given up (let’s keep it real
okay), we tell God what we have done, what we found, what we have and in the
end we either proceed in faith or we walk away not trusting God. So Simon told Jesus and let me paraphrase a
little. He said, “Look Jesus we have
been out there all night and caught all we could catch and it really wasn’t
much. We already went out there in faith
and we did not return with what we were expecting, as far as I can see we have
nothing. I have washed the nets, I’m
tired and I just want to go home. But
you know what Jesus I trust you so if you want me to launch out into to the
deep there must be a reason so if you tell me to do it I’m going to do it.” Simon let Jesus know where he had been and
where he was at but in the end he said you know what Lord I still trust you and
he preceded with Jesus request. And what
did he receive? A blessing, an overflow,
more fish than his boat or the other boat could hold. The scripture says it was so much fish in the
net that the boat started to sink, but not only Simon’s boat but the second
boat as well that came out to help.
Now what does that
mean, to me it means when you were going through all those that stood with you
and encouraged you, helped you work your faith, when you get your blessing they
get theirs as well because the blessing you receive is over flow, it’s more
than you can receive, it’s in the land of milk and honey and God said he would
bless you to be a blessing. I have come
to the crossroad so many times in life and was ready to give up and turn away
from the blessing. I didn’t want to turn
the wrong way but I had an option. Keep
walking toward the blessing (straight), do evil for a quick breakthrough from
the devil (left) or just give up and live a life of mediocrity while praising
God (right). I always choose the road to
the blessing. I can’t tell you how many
times I wanted to give up but I kept pressing through. I can’t tell you the tears I cried and the
number of sleepless nights I have endured but there is one man that can. God had seen all that I have done openly as
well as in secret, he knows the exact number of tears that I have cried, the
exact amount of sleep that I have lost and every person that has done me
wrong. When I read that scripture it
confirmed all that happened yesterday and today I am fully prepared to launch
out into the deep. So just sit back and
relax and watch my God work because he is moving and I am catching the wave as
should you. In life moments arise and we think OK God look me and you need to
talk because I’m not seeing anything over here, don’t give up keep toiling your
ground and digging to the ROCK so your foundation will be strong and sturdy. NEVR GIVE UP! Until next time my lovelies have a glamorous
day.
